The arithmetic is shipped: a route carries an ordered set of waypoints, and asking the platform to optimize it re-sequences those stops as a nearest-neighbour tour over their coordinates, then recomputes the estimated distance and duration from the tour it actually built. No model is involved, and the result is reproducible — which is exactly what you want from a number a driver has to trust.
The judgement is the part that is designed and not yet built. Which driver, which truck, which carrier, given today’s load book and who is already rolling. What to do when a lane blows up at 2pm and three appointments are suddenly at risk. That is scoped as three operations on the shared AI runtime — plan a dispatch, recommend a carrier, resolve an exception — each reading the same governed shipment, fleet and marketplace data the dispatch board already reads.
The interaction matters as much as the recommendation. A proposal is designed to arrive as a decision card on the AI Operations page: the assignment it wants to make, the reasoning behind it, and how confident it is — with an explicit accept or reject. Nothing is written to a delivery job until a human accepts, which keeps the dispatcher accountable for the plan rather than merely downstream of it.
The reason none of this is live is a dependency, not an oversight. It waits on the shared multi-model AI gateway and the run ledger that records what an automated decision did — platform work that has not landed. In the meantime the AI Operations page inside the app exists and says exactly that, listing the decision cards, the agent activity feed and the AI spend view as roadmap rather than dressing up counts as intelligence.
